Youth Activities for the City of Atwater
Free
BMX Ride Nights
The Atwater Police Activities League (PAL) has started
their free BMX ride nights. Every 1st and 3rd Monday of
the month from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Veteran's Park in Atwater.
Bikes and helmets are provided. Long sleeves and pants are
recommended. Sign ups are at the Castle Youth Center at
Veteran's Park from 3-6 Monday thru Friday. A parent signature
is required. Sign ups will also be accepted on the free
ride nights. Open to youth 5-17 years old. Join this FREE
program and become a PAL Kid. Every Kid needs a PAL.
Atwater PAL is also starting sign ups for
the Jr. Giants summer baseball program. This is a non-competitive
league for boys and girls from 5-13 years old. This program
is also FREE. Hats and shirts are also FREE. If you don't
have a glove we have one for you. Four coaches are still needed.
Sign ups will start May 3rd at the new Savemart in Atwater.
The times will be from 9-2. After May 3rd sign ups will be
at Savemart May 10th and then at Kmart on May 17th and 24th.
Season starts mid-June. All games will be played at Osborn
Park.

TAKE IT OFF WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM
We are very excited to present the
Take It Off weight loss program at the Millennium SportsClub.
This 90 day program will enable us to serve our members

Three Local Gymnasts
Compete In NorCal State Championships
Three local gymnasts, all from Tumble Time Gymnastics
in Merced, are ready to compete among the best in their sport. Sabrina
Abbate, Jenna Morton, and Ashton Espino will be competing among
the other Elite gymnasts of Northern California in the Norcal State
Championships.
One level 5 gymnast, Sabrina Abbate age 12, qualified
at Zone Championships to perform at State Championship on Nov 17
2007 at the Santa Rosa Rancheria Community Center in Lemoore Ca.
Beam 8.225, tied 3rd on vault 8.650, fourth on bars 8.875, third
place on floor 8.425 with an all-around score of 34.175.
Two level 4 gymnasts, Jenna Morton age 8 and Ashton
Espino age 9, performed well enough during the season to qualify
to State on Dec 1, 2007 at Rancho Cordova. Their qualifying scores
were: Jenna Morton bars 8.675, first place beam 9.425, 2nd place
floor 8.975, third place vault 9.2 earning 2nd place all-around
36.250. Ashton Espino vault 8.550, floor 8.650, 2nd place
beam 9.275, fourth bars 9.0 and fifth place all-around 35.475.
Because of the size of California, and the large number of gymnasts,
California State championships are divided into two separate groups,
Northern and Southern California. This doesn't make the competition
any easier to get into, it simply evens the playing field when compared
to other states. The NorCal State Championships have a rich
history with competitors that have gone on to greater heights in
the world of gymnastics, including Olympians Amy Chow, Tracee Talavera,
Julianne Mcnamara, Pam Bileck, and Michelle Campi.

token operated. One dollar per token equals 15 pitches. For
