A Complete Practice Facility

Having a full service practice facility is a golfer's dream. At the 9-Iron Practice Center we have natural grass for golfers who want the feel of hitting the turf and taking a divot. We have "grass pads" for the golfer who wants the feel of turf, but enjoys clean clubs and not taking a divot. Our hitting pads also have a covered area to get out of the weather. We also provide two sand traps and a natural grass pitching area that allows the true feel of an approach shot. Our putting green is of the highest grade of artificial surface that rolls true on each putt and helps improve your game. We also have an area to practice your "up-hill-lie" and your "down-hill-lie" because it is a major part of playing golf. You will enjoy our accurate distance markers and range targets to give a visual shot each time. And lastly our target greens allow everyone to make their approach from a par 3 and get the feel of landing it on the green.

TEACHING PRO - DANNY LaVILLA

Danny Lavilla Jr. was born and raised on the Hawaiian Islands.  He attended high school and college in northern California he is currenty living in Merced with his wife and two daughters. He has been playing golf since the age of seven and turned professional in 1992. Danny inherited his nick name, "Iron Man", from his fellow peers because of the numerous mini tours he has played in throughout the USA. He has played in the Hooters tour, the Asian tour, the South American tour, the Nike tour (newly named Nationwide tour), and the PGA tour.  Danny has won multiple times on the Golden State golf tour and King Stallman tour, just to name a few. Danny is currently playing tournament golf and will be attending The Champions Tour Q-School Qualifying in November. Along with his knowledge and teaching method on the golf swing, Danny brings his magnetic personality and energy to the 9-Iron practice center to help build and rejuvenate junior golf in Merced.  Danny is available for private lessons on all aspects of the game. $10.00 per hour with Group Lessons (6 people) 8:30am • 9:30am • 10:30am Sundays or $60.00 per hour for Individual Lessons

Not only will you love the practice facility, you will love the food at the Back-9 Cafe. We have the "best burger anywhere" and our cheese steak (and cheese chicken) are mouth watering delights. Want something interesting? Try our Jalapeno burger, our Italian Chicken, our Meatball sandwich or our Reuben sandwich. Want something simple? Try our grilled cheese, our grilled tuna or Peanut Butter and Jelly. Want something light? Try our spinach or green salads and mix them with a half sandwich.
