Sunday, December 17th, 2017 - 2:00 PM

It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is based on the classic holiday movie with a clever twist thrown in: the story is staged as a live radio broadcast. Actors portray numerous characters, and sound effects are done through Foley artists. It’s a Wonderful Life is about the life of George Bailey, a generous and well-meaning man who has become too downcast and tired to continue living. It will take help from a lovable angel to show George what life would be like if he wasn’t born for George to have a change of heart and understand the true spirit of the holidays.

Shen Yun - Experience Divine Beauty & Profound Wisdom of a Lost Civilization

12/26/2017 - 7:30pm
12/27/2017 - 2pm
Saroyan Theatre

SHEN YUN’S unique artistic vision expands theatrical experience into a multi-dimensional, inspiring journey through one of humanity’s greatest treasures—the five millennia of traditional Chinese culture.
This epic production immerses you in stories reaching back to the most distant past. You’ll explore realms even beyond our visible world. Featuring one of the world’s oldest art forms—classical Chinese dance —along with patented scenographical effects and all-original orchestral works, Shen Yun opens a portal to a civilization of enchanting beauty and enlightening wisdom.

Traditional Chinese culture—with its profoundly optimistic worldview and deep spiritual roots— was displaced by communism in China. Today, only the New York-based Shen Yun is keeping this precious heritage alive on stage. And it’s an experience that will take your breath away.

“Absolutely the no. 1 show in the world—no other company or of any style can match this.”
— Kenn Wells, former lead dancer of the English National Ballet

“Poetry in Motion... Priceless... It is food for my heart and soul... it was something that I will keep in my heart. ”
— Siegfried & Roy, Masters of the Impossible

“There is a massive power in this that can embrace the world. It brings great hope… It is truly a touch of heaven.”
— Daniel Herman, Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic

“I was uplifted, I was filled with hope… The world is a better place because of Shen Yun.”
— Richard Swett, former U.S. Congressman

“I come back every year… I’m reborn and see true hope every time.”
— Christine Walevska, world-renowned musician

“A Must-See!”
— Broadway World

The Merced Theatre Foundation Presents:
Aaron Tippin
Thursday, January 11th, 2018 - 8:00 PM
$39 & $49

Twenty-Five years - a huge career accomplishment, especially in the music business. Aaron Tippin admits that he looks at his career longevity with a little bit of amazement. "I think about it and go 'Wow. What am I doing still here?' ...To be here twenty-five years doing it, I am the luckiest hillbilly that ever lived." The singer/songwriter was invited to join the roster of Nashville powerhouse RCA in 1990. Nobody was more surprised than Tippin himself, as the invitation came at a time when he had almost given up hope of success as a vocalist and instead decided to concentrate on his budding career as a songwriter. Tippin's first single, "You'e Got To Stand For Something," hit the Billboard Country Singles chart, eventually peaking at #6 and grabbing the attention of Linda Hope, who invited him to perform for the troops on the Bob Hope show.

Hits began to pile up from there, including "There Ain't Nothin' Wrong With The Radio", "My Blue Angel", and "Workin' Man's PhD". His distinct vocal and song style built him an audience among the blue-collar crowd, and that's what's stuck all these years. "I think several times during my record career, we tried to change and follow trends and stuff. But, it never seemed to work for me."

"You either like it or you hated it," Tippin says with a smile. "I is what I is."
