MALL SUMMER MUSIC SERIES
Merced Mall Summer Music Series presents
the fabulous jazz works of the
John Albano Quartet, Saturday, July 31, 6-8:00
pm.

In his 20s, Albano honed his skills in
the streets and subways of Manhattan in Greenwich Village.
He now performs throughout California as a member of Akoustics
and a freelance artist. He has performed with Russ Ferrante
of Yellowjackets, Bobby McFerrin, Sony/Columbia recording
artist Steve Tyrell, and many others. John has also performed
with the Stockton Symphony, the Merced Symphony, and guest
appearances on The Donny & Marie Show... obviously
at a very young age.
John always brings with him cream-of-the-crop players.

MERCED ANNUAL GALA COMING AUGUST 21
Themed ‘speakeasy’
event includes drinks, dinner, silent auction and live entertainment

“Bye Bye Birdie” closes
out Playhouse Merced’s “16th Season of Pure Imagination”
with a three week run beginning Friday, May 28 at 7:30pm.
Playhouse Merced’s annual gala will be held Saturday
August 21, 2010 at the Merced Senior Center starting at 6:00pm.
This year, with the theme “Dreams, Fantasy, Drama and
All That Jazz,” Playhouse Merced will recreate a 1920s
speakeasy. Playhouse Merced’s costume and design team
will provide props and special décor, completing the
look with fedoras, flapper dresses, secret passwords and perhaps
even bathtub gin.
The evening will begin outside with a display of classic
cars, courtesy of Valley Vintage Car Club. Once inside “Club
PHM,” guests will be treated to drinks, a catered dinner
from Chefanelli’s and a live variety show, featuring
performances from many of the of Playhouse Merced favorites.
Guests will also have an opportunity to bid on several fantastic
prizes via silent auction.
Tickets are $70.00 per person, which includes catered dinner,
hosted drinks and live entertainment. Tables of 8 may also
be secured for $750.00. Purchase a table before July 31, and
receive a $100 discount. All proceeds go toward the ongoing
productions at Playhouse Merced. Gala tickets may be purchased
by calling Playhouse Merced box office at (209) 725-8587 or
stopping by at 452 West Main Street in downtown Merced.
Playhouse Merced is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 organization
that enriches, engages, and entertains the diverse communities
of Merced and the Central Valley by providing exceptional
live theater and arts education rooted in strong community
involvement.
